FALCON MAKE KING CROSS !

KING CROSS 1 FALCON PINE 6 (CROSSLEY 3,PROBETS 2,HOLROYD 1)

In the tie of the round , Premier division title chasers King Cross were dumped out of the cup by a high flying Falcon Pine outfit that boast a 100% winning record in every game played so far this season.
It was the complete team performance that every one at Pine was looking for and captain Stephen Scholey had great praise for his team-mates.........

"I was proud to be captain today, it was a great performance and every last man put everything into it"
"We are all really good mates now, which brings out the best in us to form one solid unit"
"King Cross are an excellent passing team and to win them gives us the confidence and self belief to go forward this season"

It was Scholey himself that along with Adam Probets were the key figures in the opening minutes as each side battled hard to gain the upperhand.
Probets, now looking like an all round centre forward slid in the killer pass for strike partner Wayne Crossley to put Pine 1-0 up after around 10 minutes but it was short lived as Cross levelled after Pine went to sleep at the back post.

The game entered a spell where neither side was on top of the other but then in a purple patch for Falcon, goals were hit with superb accuracy from Crossley and Probets either side of a Matty Holroyd thunderbolt into the top left corner caused the net to bulge !

At 1-4 up the game looked over but King Cross with Craig Reidy inspirational after moving into midfield would not lie down and pushed on down the slope to try to claw back the goals tally, but to no avail as Falcon`s defenders Bailey,Brownridge and Smith seemed flawless along with tiny goalkeeper Dean Crossley in fine form.

In the 2nd half, the score remained at 1-4 for around 30 minutes as the sides slugged it out and it was Crossley that made the game beyond Cross with his 4th hatrick of the season so far from a Scholey long throw.

Subs Midgely and Rowe were introduced and played their part in the enthralling match and showed the depth of Pine`s squad.

Probets snatched his 2nd near the end and with both sides gaining the appreciation of the supporters gathering to watch the display both Falcon Pine and King Cross were applauded off for producing such a high standard of Halifax Sunday League football.
