BRADSHAW V FALCON PINE FC 6-5 (HT 3-3)
BRADSHAW - S.Cochrane 1,Morgan 1, R.Cochrane 1, Gaukroger 2, Mallard 1
PINE - Smith 1, Probets 2, Holroyd 2
Newly promote Bradshaw gained 3 points in dramatic circumstances in their opening division 2 fixture by scoring with
the last kick of the game at Natty Lane.
In a 6-5 thriller, Bradshaw had not been in the lead at any point until the death when inspirational sub Andrew Mallard
popped up the hammer the ball home from close range following a corner.
It was a double blow to Falcon, having conceded a 5th to Bradshaw only minutes earlier when the awkward Gareth Gaukroger
had scored following a dangerously wipped in free kick.
But it was so different throughout the game, with Pine storming into a 2-0 lead after just 13 minutes through the pace
and finishing power of Matt Holroyd and his strike partner Adam Probets.
Holroyd slotting home on each occasion after being set up by his strike partner.
The lead was not to last however as Morgan broke free down the right to slot home Bradshaw`s opening goal which to many
observers appeared to be very much offside.
Gaukroger made it 2-2 after some sloppy Pine defending against the run of play as up until then Falcon had looked in
control in every department.
Soon after, Pine were awarded a penalty after a push in the box but Craig Smith had his shot saved by Wayne Camplin.
However Smith made ammends by scoring a trademark left foot free kick into the top corner of Camplin`s goal.
Seconds before the break Pine conceded a harsh and soft penalty as Sam Rowe was judged to have had his arms around Cochrane
and his Uncle Steve Cochrane slotted the ball away from the spot.
After the break Falcon came out and scored another to take them into a 4-3 lead, with Probets scoring but again in an
end to end game Bradshaw equalised with Gaukroger adding his second of the game after a free kick was again the cause of Pine
conceding a goal from a set play.
Probets again looked to be the savour of Falcon`s hopes for a winning start as he raced through to score Falcon`s 5th.
But Bradshaw never gave up and with the introduction of Mallard he was influencial in the 5th goal and then grabbed the winner
to leave Falcon gutted and pointless.
