NEW SIGNINGS GEL AT LAST FOR PINE
Carrington 3 Falcon Pine 4
(ht 4-2)
Carrington - McElroy 2
Falcon - Probets 2, Crossley 1, Allinson 1
Falcon Pine FC got their season back on track with a comfortable win over newly promoted Carrington
at Holmfield Rec.
It was new signing Wayne Crossley that broke the initial deadlock by scoring
from a low drive after 12 minutes from a long ball by Brownridge but Carrington quickly were on level terms as Mark
McElroy was fortunate to see his close shot squeeze past Dean Crossley who was also a new player, manager Bob Bartle
has signed.
Pine were not level for long however as a superb passing movement involving another new signing
Dave Bagley, Wayne Crossley, Adam Probets and Mat Holroyd - lead to Bagley driving a low cross into the path of Scott Allinson
who swept the ball into the bottom corner past the helpless Carrington keeper.
3-1 soon followed with Adam Proberts purposely gambling on staying deep and as the ball ran out
to him he blasted the ball into the top left hand corner from 25 yards.
Carrington were not dead yet as they had a shot spectacularly headed off the last by Pine player
boss Bob Bartle only for the ref to blow for a penalty for some infringement from Pine`s Jonny Brownridge with players from
both sides bewildered.McElroy despatched the penalty with ease to make it 3-2.
Falcon Pine then stepped up another gear and it was Adam Probets who looked to have secured the
points with his second of the day with a mis-hit shot dribbling over the line.
With the scoreline at 4-2 Pine suffered the loss of Holroyd, but he was replaced by rookie Callium
Huggon who had an excellent 2nd half and was the 4th new signing that Pine have added in the summer.
Carrington fought hard in the second half going down the steep sloped pitch and man of the match
Robbie Graham caused problems. They made it 4-3 with a bizarre own goal from Huggon as he finished into his own net with
a header any centre forward would be proud of.
Falcon looked to have made the game certain with another Crossley goal but it was wrongly ruled
offside and with seconds left Carrington made Falcon have to do some desparate defending but Pine man of the match Craig Smith
was a rock in the centre of defence.
