VETERAN JAKEWAY STEALS THE SHOW WITH A VINTAGE PERFORMANCE
Falcon Pine 11 Albert 2 (Ht - 3-0)
(Pine - Probets 5, Holroyd 4, Scholey 1, Jakeway 1)
(Albert - Bell 1, Stansfield 1)
Super Sub Andy Jakeway came off the bench and celebrated his 4oth birthday in style by
scoring Pines 11th goal and setting up 3 others in an amazing game against Albert Rovers.
Matt Holroyd and strike partner Adam Probet had earlier blitzed a shell shocked newly
promoted Albert side that had the won the division 3 title just last season. Their combined efforts had enabled Falcon to
take a 3-0 half time lead with Matthew Chapman pulling the strings in his favoured central midfield role.Holroyd scoring a
first half brace and Probet claiming the 3rd goal of the game.
But it was an indifferent 1st half performance that had the pine managerial team pulling
their hair out as the quality ranged from the sublime to the terrible as Pine huffed and puffed to break down relegation haunted
Rovers
After a half time roasting, Pine set about the task of playing much better and consistent
football.
18 year old Probets banged in two to grab another hatrick but it was the introduction
of Andy Jakeway who at 40 years of age added the much needed class, he immediately set up man of the match Holroyd for his
hatrick before a sensational through ball for Probets to tap his 4th into an empty net and seconds later it was again Jakeway
who ran from the halfway line before unselfishly passing to Holroyd to score his 4th.
A couple of bad errors by John Bailey- the stand in Pine keeper enable Albert to claim
consolation goals through Dan Bell and Simon Stansfield which produced a spirited mini fightback bit it didnt last long.
Captain Stephen Scholey was rewarded for his tireless work on the right wing with a deserved
low drive past beleagured Albert keeper Chris Lambert which made it 9-0.
Adam Probet was then put through for his 5th by player boss Bob Bartle who came on as
a sub for the last 15 minutes but even the feat of scoring 5 goals was outdone when in the last minute Andy Jakeway capped
a superb 30 minutes of football with arguably the best goal he has scored in his 4o years of life with a solo run ending
in a low drive.
