CRAIG SALMONS
Craig Salmons was over his career a lower league legend, at his peak he once scored
7 goals in a game for Falcon Pine Reserves and did a similar feat for Halifax Rangers many years ago.
Now 38 he is in semi retirement and at the time of writing is a free agent football
wise but he is concentrating on his refereeing career where he is carving out a reputation as a fair minded ref with a large
knowledge of the game.
He started his Sunday League days as a trialist at Halifax Rangers some 19 years
ago in the same crop of youngsters as Bob Bartle, Andy Jakeway and Kyle Edwards.....having shown a glimpse of what he could
do he made the squad and went on to score over 200 league and cup goals for Rangers in 3 spells at the club.
He joined Falcon Pine around 11 years ago and scored 17 goals in the 2nd half of
the season but then after manager Bob Bartle left to rejoin Hx Rangers himself, Craig followed soon after as the original
Falcon were re-named Clarence.
When Falcon Pine 2000 FC were formed he joined a couple of years later and went
on to score many goals mainly as a 2nd team player but had extended spells as a goalkeeper.
He played some Saturday football but mainly he was known as a Sunday League player
and a prolific scorer in the lower leagues, although he did have a couple of stints in the top division with Hx Rangers and
also Falcon Pine.
Craig is very well known in Sunday League circles and is 100% committed to the
Sunday League Scene, winning clubman several times at Rangers as well as Pine.
He has always given his all to the clubs he has been involved with both on and
off the pitch and he is now doing the same in his refereeing career.
He has always been well liked and thought of at Pine and was awarded a testimonial
game a couple of seasons ago which had a very high turnout.
