PHIL RADCLIFFE
Phil Radcliffe went down not just as a Falcon Pine Great, but a Hailfax Sunday League
Great.
Aged 16 he made his debut in the old 4th division playing alongside a mixed bunch of players
for Halifax Rangers.
He quickly formed a leathal partnership on the right side with Bob Bartle then a winger
and Phil was right fullback and his maurading overlaps were fantastic to see.
A player blessed with the ability to run the full length of the pitch with the ball he
scored many goals and stayed at Rangers for about 7 years before a short spell at Kebroyd Rovers winning the div1 title.
Returning to Rangers he adopted a more central midfield role or often Sweeper and enjoyed
playing alongside Daz Smith.
Falcon Pine FC were quick to snap Phil up when he was keen to have a new challenge and
he went on to help Falcon reach div1 playing alongside the likes of Chris Redhead.
A very popular player, never did anybody have a bad word to say of him and when he emigrated
to Australia at the start of last season he was badly missed by Pine and the league was lesser as a result as well as a lot
of his big mates such as Bob Bartle, Craig Salmons and Andy Jakeway missing him a lot.
All the best to Phil, we all still look forward to when he pays us a visit and the signing
on form is always there should he return to England at some point at 34 he would still be a top player !
