Hello and welcome to the new website, its taking a while to get updated as all the info i have is all over the place
but ill get round to sorting it slowly.
The column is something i want to add to on a regular basis, at least once a month and it wont be just about our own
club but whatever i feel is relevant.
Id like to start this first issue off by saying many thanks to Nick Sweeting for his excellent website that has served
our club so well over the last few years, he has been a great clubman over the years for Falcon Pine FC and the fact ive taken
over doing this new site is down to the fact i want to add more of our history / stats etc before it is lost in the passage
of time.
Next point is the new Hx Sunday League Forum site, its just started this last week and is excellent and already is getting
widely used by a lot of Sunday players.
There is now a link to it from this site and id urge everybody to look and it.
Life in division 2 is a strange feeling for me, after the last 3 seasons in division 1 we are now back in the dogfight
of trying to establish ourselves into a promotion winning team.
I`m under no illusions that div 2 is strong, every team we have played so far has impressed me in different ways and
we have Hx Pheonix up next who many predict for the title and then the rejuvinated Shoulder Royd who have the history of being
ex div 1 title winners a few years back, they are a new young looking team and im looking forward to playing them.
As for us at pine, well we have based our squad around clubmen now, not using any of the lads that let us down a bit
last season or lost interest as we were struggling.......instead ive used the best of what was left of the 2nd team and we
signed 3 new players in 17 year old centre half Sam Rowe, Jonny Brownridge from Siddal and Assad Quereshi who is a good player
that is very comfortable on the ball.
So we have a squad of about 18 / 19 but with the luxery of top class back up players signed on such as Bret Abson, Mike
Jordan, Beechy, Tinhead , John Casey etc......in fact we have about 12 back up players to call on should we get an injury
crisis !
It`s true we may be signing another player very soon, he`s a player that i wanted but he went elsewhere and it didnt
work out as he planned but at Falcon we have a top class social side where everyone gets on well and goes back to the pub
after games / nights out and although i do want us to win on the pitch - to me being a top clubman and a decent guy off the
pitch is just as important as a players ability on the pitch.
