Huddersfield Terriers i took over as a div 2 club called Glendale Blues in P9.......I
finished 2nd in my first season after a great div 2 title charge and the following season i finished a decent 11th place.
However as Falcon in P3 were at that time only a top 8 team in a hard premier i didnt want
such a hard challenge so i asked Apex to put us in its weakest premier for the new season.
P29 they put me in and it had just 17 teams managed !!!!!......how times change, now p29
is arguably amongst the top 3 premiers and i feel ive played my part in transforming p29 from almost certain mergers and loss
of identity to a giant in Apex.
Over the years i have done countless newsletters and helped fight off a merger with
p29 losing its name with p8 with Apex finally agreeing to allow p29 to keep the name.
I revived a dormant international scene and gained appointment to the managers job and set
about setting up a under 23 team, a div 2 team and a div 3 team.
But perhaps the biggest shot in the arm i did for p29 was to get Ishvar Sheran, then known
only as Pete Woodruff of course to join us.
It was excellent for p29 as he also did and still does a vast amount of things for p29.....but
for my Huddersfield outfit who had just finished 5th in my first p29 season it was a disaster as Ishvar (on my mad recomendation)
took over Plymouth Pilgrims who had a yts and a huge squad of top players, money in the bank and were so strong were chasing
the title whilst unmanaged !!!!!
But Hudds have had our moments, we became Apex`s ultimate cup side and won a treble as well
as a Champions League Final appearance.
We have long been a super club and we always seem to get the goalposts moved as just
when we were getting good Plymouth become managed again......then when its a regular one two of Plym of Hudds the merger comes
about and the mighty Extrusioneers arrive with Stamford and a few other top sides.
We see off those challengers only for the website to come along and p29 benefit the most
maybe as managers try to pit their wits in a league with big guns such as myself and Ishvar.......top managers arrive in their
droves, again making it tough to stay at the top.
But we are back on top and never been far away, 6th the lowest ever position and another
treble is the target !
